An introduction to this issue

The issue of Auckland, and its subsequent graffiti culture may not be the most important topic for some locals, but for others, its as relevant as transport, housing, or job satisfaction.

This blog aims to shed light on the very opinionated and controversial topic of Graffiti art and its place (or lack of) here within the streets of Auckland City. But in no way is it going to attempt to answer the age old question, "Who decides what is Art, and what is Vandalism" Because that debate is still continuing behind Council doors to this day.

    Your introduction seems rather long. Make it clear where the first part of the main argument begins, perhaps another post like my global warming blog?

    Really interesting blog topic! I always thought the difference between street art and graffiti was that street art was thought provoking, humourous or otherwise interesting, and graffiti was more like... people just spraypainting penises on things. I look forward to reading more =)

      Actually Hedibug,

      Graffiti is related to art, mainly name-based, done freehand with spraycans

      And Street Art is related to stencils, stickers, paste-ups, quotations, brush work, or any pre-prepared Artwork that is stuck onto the wall afterwards.

      But its a fuzzy line. As long as it looks good and/or invokes emotion or reaction, then its all art as far as I'm concerned. Thats why i love it. Its so subjective..."Art is in the eye of the beholder"
